The old family home in Origer street

Franz spent his early years in the old family home in Origer Street. When he was about 5, his parents built a house in Hospital street, and they lived there until about 1980. The family then moved back to Origer street where they could look after his uncle and aunt, and the house in Hospital street was let out to a tennant.

The house in Origer street was built in 1873. François Muller was a carpenter and he had a furniture shop down stairs. Later the shop moved to large premises down by the station. In 1916, during the war, trade became so slow that François decided to close the furniture business. The family blocked up the passage way on the left, and refaced the house.
